This week has a bit of everything: Windrush stories, Sydenham market browsing, records at Deptford Lounge, and Fox & Firkin doing what Fox & Firkin does best — giving Lewisham High Street a very loud Saturday.

In this week’s Loop:

  • A sunny-ish Saturday market in Sydenham

  • Ska, reggae, jungle and dubstep at The Fox & Firkin

  • Windrush memories, movement and storytelling with Age Exchange

  • Yoga, homework help, colouring and a couple of library listings to double-check

🗓️ Our picks for 9th June - 14th June

The Windrush Journey & Arrival 2026

Memories, movement and stories worth keeping safe

Age Exchange is running a community reminiscence, arts and dance project celebrating the memories and cultural legacy of the Windrush Generation. It brings together elders living with dementia, carers, family members and local residents through dance workshops, storytelling and creative sessions.

It runs through June and July, with public exhibitions planned later in the summer. A thoughtful one, and very much rooted in the people and stories that shaped this corner of London.

Details can be found here, for those wanting more information. Contact Age Exchange at 020 8318 9105 if you would like to take part, share a family story, or host a screening.

Monday 8th June - Friday 31st July @ 09:00 - 17:00
Age Exchange @ 11 Blackheath Village, SE3 9LA

Summer Market

Sydenham browsing, local makers, and probably something you did not plan to buy

SEE3’s Summer Market is back at Sydenham Centre with gifts, plants, jewellery, treats, food and local makers. Very good for “just popping in” and leaving with a card, a candle, a plant and no memory of how it happened.

It is a nice low-effort Saturday plan, especially if you want to support small businesses without making a grand day of it.

Turn up on the day, for traders it’s £15 if you need tables and chairs, £10 if you provide your own. More info here.

Saturday 13th June @ 11:00 - 16:00
Sydenham Centre, @ 44A Sydenham Road, SE26 5QX

The Dualers at The Fox & Firkin

South East London ska in a proper Lewisham setting

The Dualers are heading to The Fox & Firkin for an open-air afternoon of ska, reggae and Jamaican rhythm & blues. They are a South East London band with a big following, so expect a lively one rather than a gentle pint in the corner.

A strong Saturday pick if you like your weekend plans sunny, loud and danceable.

More details and tickets listed from £29.50 here. Minimum age 18+

Saturday 13 June @ 14:00 - 20:00

Bring Your Own Vinyl

Your favourite record, someone else’s wildcard, and ten turns behind the decks

Deptford Lounge is hosting a relaxed vinyl-sharing evening for adults. Bring a favourite record, sign up on arrival, and take a turn playing it through the sound system. There are 10 playing slots, first come first served.

You can also pick up basic DJ tips from library staff, which is lovely and also a dangerous gateway into saying “just one more record” for the rest of your life.
